Kanlux PIR Motion Sensors
A motion sensor is designed to provide a security and convienience function. The motion sensors here supplied by The Internet Electrical Store are EU certified and come with full manufacturers instructions & warranty.

A motion & PIR sensor can save energy by only using a light source when it is required.
The security aspect will allow illumination by your chosen light fitting to illuminate the area. Many sensors are adjustable so can detect motion in advance of the required light area.
An example would be a step area at the end of a driveway, you might have an illuminated driveway with LED driveover lights for a design feature, but the steps might be dark & dangerous, the solution here, would be to activate the step light when an angled motion sensor picked up motion on the driveway, subsequently illuminating the steps for a given time period (Arguably here a halogen fitting would be ok as the PIR Motion sensor would only be active for a couple of minutes at a time, thus negating any energy issue).
