HR2 Varilight 2 Gang 1 Way 2x250W Rotary Standard Dimmer Switch Pewter Finish

This dimmer switch is designed to meet the latest European Safety Legislation.

The lights can be dimmed by using the rotary control piece. Please note that this switch is only suitable for 1 way circuits.

When choosing a standard dimmer add the wattages of the bulbs you wish to dim and choose a dimmer with a suitable maximum load rating. If you have a 2 way circuit (where the same lights are controlled by two switches) you must choose a push on/push off dimmer and replace one of the switches with that dimmer.

When you switch on a push on/push off dimmer please note that the lights will return to the same level that they were when you last switched them off, (e.g. if you dim to 50% and then turn off by pressing in the dimmer twist knob, next time you push it again it will come on at 50%, simply twist to full 100% brightness).

The standard dimmer can be used for mains incandescent GLS lamps (standard mains light bulbs), maximum load as specified on dimmer. It can also dim GU10 or similar Hi Spot Mains Halogen lamps (only use quality UK supplied lamps) maximum load as specified on dimmer. By using standard dimmers there is a zero risk of damage in case of lamp failure and a dramatically improved lamp life.

You can use other quality low voltage transformers, but we would recommend using the Varilight low voltage transformers (product codes: YT50, YT70, YT105, YT150, YT250) for their long life quality and ease of installation. With quality low voltage transformers you can control them up to maximum load as specified on the dimmer.

Please note standard dimmers do not dim wire-wound transformers, choose the Intelligent Dimmer (IQ Dimmer). The standard dimmers also do not dim fans and inductive loads, choose the Intelligent Dimmer (IQ Dimmer) or look at Fan Regulators for these awkward loads, (please check with manufacturer that appliance is dimmable).
